Known synonymously with the cheery style of Provence, over the years Pierre Deux has combed the countryside finding diverse artisan resources and historical research offering authentic French Country design.
From vibrant cotton color block prints, to timeless scenettes of the graceful toiles de Jouy, to the more naïf toiles de Nantes, to elegant chateau florals, chinoiseries and damasques; Pierre Deux's latest collection of wallcoverings and fabrics provides design choices for the simplest bastide to the chicest chateau.
Pierre Deux was founded in 1967 by Pierre Moulin and Pierre LeVec, the  “Two Pierres”, and they were the first to introduce Provencal décor to the US market.  Now for more than a decade, Hedwige Cointreau de Bouteville, the President and Creative Director, has shared her sense of style and a deep appreciation for the time-honored craftsmanship of French Country design, continuing the spirit of the Pierres and also presenting her personal insight for this l’art de vivre a la francaise.
French Country style takes its cue from the innate passion for individuatlity and artistry that is at the heart of all good things French.  This style takes inspiration from the landscape, lifestyle and handcrafts of rural France in the 17th to 19th centuries.  Each décor and design has an historical provenance. “La Fete” epitomizes la vie pastorale depicting life in a village the day of a feast, celebrating rural and bucolic life in its scenes.  “Les Quatre Parties du Monde” was created by Jean-Baptiste Huet in 1785 and presents an allegory of the four continents of the time: Europe, Asia, the Americas and Africa.
These designs are a perfect balance of old and new, creating the ideal atmosphere of relaxed elegance, blending form with function and the warmth and grace of homes throughout the French countryside.  From Provence to the Loire, we are pleased to share with you the best of all that is French Country.
